Noemi stood silently for a moment, trying to steady herself. A deep breath escaped her as she realized how much the day had changed. She had come to the shore hoping to disappear from the world for a while, but instead, she had become part of a moment she would carry with her forever.
Watching the wolves fade into the wilderness, she remained at the water’s edge, feeling the cold waves wash over her feet. The beach was quiet again, almost as if nothing had happened.
Then, from somewhere far beyond the trees, a lone wolf’s howl rose into the air and drifted across the wind.
Noemi didn’t know what the sound truly meant. Maybe it was simply a call into the night.
But deep down, she chose to believe it was something more.
A farewell.
A sign of gratitude.
