This dog can adapt well to family life, but its intense energy levels may be too much for households with very small children. Coat care plays a key role in their upkeep, with consistent weekly brushing being essential. Although generally robust and hardy, the breed can be prone to conditions such as allergies and kneecap dislocation. Early and consistent training should begin as soon as the puppy arrives in its new home to establish good behavior from the start.
