Coldplay is often seen as the definition of overly sentimental music. The more someone listens to songs like “Fix You,” the more melodramatic and cringe-inducing the lyrics can seem.
Chris Martin undeniably has an impressive voice and a likable public image, but that does not change the argument that his band is overrated and relies too heavily on predictable, cookie-cutter songs.
