Tyra Banks began her modeling career at just fifteen years old and quickly became a trailblazer in the fashion world. Throughout her early years in the industry, she broke significant barriers for Black models, making history as the first Black woman to appear on the covers of both GQ and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Despite her success, Banks experienced the intense pressure and criticism that often comes with being in the public eye. When paparazzi photos showed her looking slightly heavier than usual, she faced overwhelming media attention and harsh commentary about her appearance. Determined to prioritize her health and confidence, she returned to the gym and worked toward feeling her best.
The experience also encouraged Banks to speak openly about the unrealistic expectations placed on women in the entertainment and fashion industries. She has continued to advocate against unfair beauty standards and the unequal treatment women often face in the public spotlight.
